Nightcliff NT 0810 (Pop 3 500)
Nightcliff is a popular Darwin foreshores suburb 10 km north of the CBD. The suburb’s name originates from an early exploration excursion up the cliffs at night in 1839. During WWII, the area was used by the Royal Australian Air Force to help defend Darwin with large guns and spotlights. The long foreshores footpath today leads to the Nightcliff Jetty, Beach and Swimming Pool. The Nightcliff Markets are held each Sun from 6am-2pm. Surrounding suburbs include Rapid Creek, Millner and Coconut Grove.
