Nyngan is an attractive Bogan River rural service centre in Central West NSW 573 km n-w of Sydney. The township is located on the edge of the Outback with the Barrier Hwy leading west to Cobar. Squatter settlement in 1830s followed occupation by the Nguyambaa Aborigines and wheat, wool and cattle industries were established. Nyngan hit the headlines in 1990 when it was severely flooded and almost the entire town had to be airlifted to safety. Agricultural Show (May).
