Oakey Qld 4401 (Pop 4 500)

Oakey is a prosperous South East Queensland township in the Darling Downs 154 km west of Brisbane. It is situated on the Warrego Hwy just 30 km west of bustling Toowoomba and was named after the creekside oak trees. Pastoralists and graziers arrived in 1840s followed by the railway. Oakey is surrounded by picturesque hills and fertile plains and is also home to the Australian Army Aviation Centre & Museum of Australian Army Flying.
