Peak Hill NSW 2869 (Pop 1 400)
Peak Hill is an interesting CentralWest service centre 386 km n-w of Sydney. Originally inhabited by the Wiradjuri Aborigines, a township developed in 1880s with the discovery of gold. Mining ceased in 1917 and agriculture took over with the state’s first public wheat silo built the following year. Main industries today are sheep, cattle and wheat. Races (May), Annual Show (Aug).
