Peterborough is an historic Clare Valley railway town situated 242 km north of Adelaide. Established in 1875, the railway arrived in 1881 and several years later, the town became SA’s key railway intersection where 3 different railway gauges met. Named after a local landowner, today Peterborough is a small but important rural service centre.

Steamtown Peterborough Museum, Main St a fascinating array of engine and carriage displays, rolling stock and rail memorabilia housed in and around the old railway workshop with a steam train service. Open daily. Peterborough Town Hall, Main St a beautiful and original 1927 building. Open weekdays. Gold Battery, Tripney Ave. Victoria Park, Queen St a pretty recreational reserve with a lake, islands, deer and kangaroos.
