Pinnaroo is a remote
Murraylands region service
centre on the Mallee Hwy 241 km east of
abandoned, it was only
with the advent of
the railway (1906), that the township began to grow and thrive. Pinnaroo is an Aboriginal word for ‘great or big men’, an apt description for the now famous Mallee spirit of the early pioneers who toiled in this harsh environment.
