Pomona is a Sunshine Coast hinterland township 135 km north of Brisbane. It sits at the base of Mt Cooroora (439 m) which celebrates its King of the Mountain festival and race to the summit each July. Pomona was settled in 1880s and named after the Roman goddess of orchards and fruit. Its peaceful bushland setting, yet proximity to the bustling Sunshine Coast is a major drawcard for visitors. Yurol State Forest is close by. Silent Movie Festival - Majestic Theatre (Aug/Sept), Country Show (Sept).
