Port Elliot is a relaxed FleurieuPeninsula township on Horseshoe Bay 85 km south of Adelaide. Settled in 1850s, its original purpose as a Murray River ocean port did not prove successful so Port Elliot began catering for a growing tourist industry establishing guesthouses and hotels. Historic Port Elliot includes the police station (1853), courthouse (1866), Hotel Elliot (1868), Council Chambers (1879). Cockle Train operating since 1887 between
