Comments[0] Rainbow Beach - Queensland

Rainbow Beach Qld 4581 (Pop about 900)

Rainbow Beach is a pretty Fraser Coast town on Wide Bay 240 north of Brisbane. It was named after its beautiful coloured sand cliffs and established only in 1969 to service the local sandmining industry which lasted until 1976. Today this quiet retirement and eco tourism destination also acts as the gateway to Fraser Island, the world's largest sand island and Cooloola NP, which both attract thousands of visitors annually.

Visitor Information Centre: 8 Rainbow Beach Rd. Tel (07) 5486 3227.
