Red Cliffs is a Mallee/Murray region service town situated 534 km n-w of Melbourne. It was named for its literal red cliffs (pictured) and sits on the Calder Hwy just 17 km south of bustling Mildura. Originally inhabited by the Keramin Aborigines, Red Cliffs was established in 1918 to settle post WWI soldiers. Numerous wineries and stunning Hattah-Kulkyne NP nearby. Folk Festival (July), Country Music Festival (Sept), Wine & Jazz Festival (Oct).

Accommodation: Red Cliffs has a couple of motels, a hotel, B&B and caravan park. Visitor Information Centre: Deakin Ave, Mildura. Tel (03) 5018 8380 or 1300 550 858.
