Roma Qld 4455 (Pop 6 600)

Roma is a major Darling Downs/Outback service centre 476 km west of Brisbane. This is rich sheep and cattle grazing country and Roma is home to Australia’s largest store cattle market. Settled in 1860s, the town was named after the Qld Governor’s wife. In 1863 the first vine cuttings were planted and Roma’s winery is still operating today. Yuleba State Forest (about 70 km east).
