Sarina is a sugar industry town in the Mackay hinterland 915 km n-w of Brisbane. It is situated on the Bruce Hwy with Sarina Beach just 8 km east. Sugar plantations were established in 1870s and the town’s name is attributed to an early Greek surveyor. Sarina sits at the base of the Connor Range and is surrounded by Mt Blarney Park (west), Mt Hector Park (n-e) and the stunning Cape Palmerston NP (46 km s-e) and many great swimming and fishing beaches.
