Southport sits at the northern end of the Gold Coast 75 km south east of Brisbane. It includes a number of smaller areas such as Main Beach, Runaway Bay and Sanctuary Cove. White settlement began in 1840s and the historic Southport Hotel dates back to 1876. Today this bustling town relies almost entirely on tourism with countless restaurants, cafes, hotels and shops not to mention the superb beaches, water sports, theme parks and other attractions.
