South Stradbroke Island is located about 70 km south of Brisbane. It is the much smaller of the two Stradbroke islands (22 km long x 2.5 km wide), named after the Earl of Stradbroke and features 22 km of beaches, rainforest pockets and melaleuca wetlands. Access is by ferry from Runaway Bay (9 km north of Surfers Paradise). There are a number of resorts on the island offering day visitor facilities, but most of the island is made up of the South Stradbroke Island Conservation Park.
