Strathmerton is a small Murray region township located 254 km north of Melbourne. It sits on the Murray Valley Hwy about 10 km from the NSW border. Strathmerton was named by an early Scottish pastoralist and is today home to a large cheese factory. A Murray River island reserve, Ulupna (the town’s original name) features a flora & fauna sanctuary and pretty river beaches. Beautiful Barmah State Forest is nearby.
