Tailem Bend SA 5260 (Pop 1 500)
Tailem Bend is an important Murraylands service and transport centre. Picturesquely built on a cliff over the Murray River, the town is located 97 km s-e of Adelaide. Original inhabitants were the Ngarrindjeri Aborigines and due to its difficult terrain, European settlement only began seriously with the advent of the railway in 1886.

Mt Rescue Conservation Park & Ngarkat Conservation Park (90 km s-e) 4WD starting point for exploring these two amazing parks. The latter comprises almost 267 000 ha of mallee and heathlands with numerous hiking trails and abundant wildlife and birdlife.
