Temora is an attractive Riverina rural service centre located 424 km west of Sydney. Originally inhabited by the Wiradjuri Aborigines, white settlement only began in 1847. Rich gold discoveries followed in 1860s together with increased bushranger activity. As the gold declined, Temora’s importance as a wheat terminal emerged and remains so today. As a harness racing centre, there are also several horse trotting studs in the area. Temora’s Rural and Aviation Museums should not be missed. Temora markets 1st Sat each month.
