Ti Tree NT 0872
Ti Tree is a small Red Centre service town on the Stuart Hwy. Its appearance belies its interesting past including the Overland Telegraph of 1872. The name is presumably derived from the Ti Tree Wells just south of town which provided the area with much needed fresh water. Located 1 305 km south of Darwin, the area has a population of over 1 400 people and an amazingly successful fruit and vegetable growing industry. Central Mount Stuart Historical Park (18 km north).
