Traralgon is an important rural service city sitting in Gippsland’s Latrobe Valley. It is located 164 km s-e of Melbourne and its name is thought to be Aboriginal for ‘river of little fish’. Traralgon was settled in 1840s as a pastoral and agricultural centre and remains so today together with a coal mine, two power plants and a pulp and paper industry. Traralgon Cup (Nov).
