Tumby Bay is an appealing Eyre Peninsula holiday town and service centre located 600 km west of Adelaide. European settlers arrived in 1840s, however it took another 60 years before a settlement was established. Today, Tumby Bay with its long beautiful beach and two jutting jetties, is an increasingly popular seaside destination.

C.L. Alexander Memorial Museum, West Tce housed within an old schoolhouse, depicts the area’s early pioneering lifestyle and history. Open (10am-11am) Wed and (2.30-4.30pm) Sun. Rotunda Art Gallery, Tumby Tce, local art exhibitions and outdoor mural. Open (10am-noon) Mon/Wed and (1.30pm-4.30pm) Sun. Mangrove Boardwalk, Berryman St interesting 70 m mangrove walkway with ecological interpretive signs.

Nearby:
Island Lookout Tower & Reserve (3 km south) stunning town, coastal and island vistas. Lipson Cove (10 km n-e) popular fishing spot with low tide walk to Lipson Island. Ponta & Cowleys beaches (15 km n-e) snapper and bream fishing. Koppio Smithy Museum (30 km s-w) fascinating and unique outdoor museum featuring a blacksmith’s shop (1903), schoolhouse, slab hut ‘Glenleigh’ (1893), restored trackers, farm machinery, Aboriginal artifacts and pioneer furniture. Open (10am-5pm) Tues-Sun. Port Neill (42 km n-e) old port settlement with good water-sports beaches and lookout offering excellent coastal views.
