Walcha is a picturesque New England rural service town located 409 km north of Sydney. Sitting at an elevation of 1 067 m, the area experiences a cool climate and possible winter snowfalls. Following indigenous occupation, squatter settlement began in 1830s with the establishment of pastoral and timber industries. These remain the mainstays of the local economy. The nearby Oxley Wild Rivers NP and Apsley Falls are not to be missed. Walcha Bushmans Carnival & Campdraft (Jan), Agricultural Show (Feb), Timber Expo (even years Sept).
