Warracknabeal is an attractive Grampians region service town 342 km n-w of Melbourne. Situated on the Henty Hwy and Yarriambiack Creek, the town’s name is indigenous meaning ‘the place of the big red gums shading the watercourse’. The Wotjobaluk Aborigines occupied the area prior to European settlement in 1860s and gradually a thriving wheat industry replaced grazing. Warracknabeal Cup (July), Agricultural Show (Oct), Rodeo (Oct).
