Wickepin is a pleasant Golden Outback rural service township situated 215 km s-e of Perth. A permanent settlement followed a decade after the construction of the Great Southern Railway (1889) linking Perth and Albany. Wickepin proudly boasts acclaimed author, Albert Facey as one of their literary figures together with poet/playwright, Dorothy Hewett.
