Williamtown is home to a military airfield (RAAF Base) as well as Newcastle Airport. Located in the Port Stephens region 173 km north of Sydney and 26 km north of Newcastle, it was established in 1941as a WWII training base. Williamtown has a number of recreational & retail facilities and a working population of about 3 500. Fighter World is a military museum with displays of fighter aircraft, miniature aircraft models, weapons and missiles. Open (10am-4pm) daily.
