Yungaburra is a pretty Tropical North township on the Atherton Tablelands 1 680 km n-w of Brisbane. Settled in 1870s following the discovery of tin and gold in the district, Yungaburra has retained its heritage feel with a dedicated National Trust Historic Precinct and adopted an alternative lifestyle ambience. Tourists began visiting with the completion of the Cairns-Yungaburra Range Road in 1926. Yungaburra is surrounded lakes (Eacham, Tinaroo, Barrine) and state forests (Danbulla, Goldsborough, Wongabel). Markets 4th Sat each month. Folk Festival (Oct).
